Course Evaluation Policy
This document defines how the final course grade is calculated.

1. Final Project – 40%
Format
- Students work in groups of two.
- Each group delivers a 6-minute English conversation in front of the entire class.
- Content must be based on materials from BBC Learning English
(https://www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english). - The script must be fully memorized.
- Students may NOT bring notes, scripts, phones, cue cards, or any materials to the front.
Evaluation Criteria
- Fluency and pronunciation
- Accuracy of grammar and vocabulary
- Natural interaction between partners
- Logical structure and clarity
- Confidence and delivery
- Time control (approximately 6 minutes)
Failure to follow the memorization rule will significantly reduce the score.
2. Midterm Exam (Closed Book) – 15%
Format
- Closed book.
- Handwritten answers.
- Questions are based on:
- The course textbook
- Assigned The Economist article(s)
Evaluation Criteria
- Accuracy of content understanding
- Ability to explain concepts clearly
- Proper use of English
- Completeness of answers
No reference materials are allowed during the exam.
3. Quizzes & Participation – 40%
- Total of n quizzes.
- Content covers textbook material and assigned readings.
- May include vocabulary, comprehension, short answers, or brief writing.
- Attendance & Engagement: Regular “showing up” is required.
4. Article Reading (Oral) – 5%
- Students choose one article (the same article used for the final project).
- Before the midterm exam, each student must:
- Read the article aloud in front of the entire class.

Important Notes
- Attendance and preparation are expected throughout the semester.
- Professional behavior during all presentations is required.
- Academic honesty is mandatory.
